Mystery Monday, Goody Flower Pins, OK or No Way?: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Over the past three weeks, I’ve recommitted myself to being the best SavvyAuntie to my two adorable nieces, Rachel and Jenna. Ballet recitals, picking them up from school, taking them to the city, reading to them at night … I’m there! With all this time spent among Strawberry Short Cake, Liv Dolls and Hello Kitty, it’s no wonder these little fashionistas are my inspiration for today’s Mystery Monday – floral hair accessories from Goody. Depending on your age, you may want to avoid an oversized pink flowered headband. However, on a muggy Monday in Los Angeles or a humid Humpday in New York, slick a small metallic or blush-color flower pin on the side of a low bun. Actually, I was wearing a Goody gold flower pin last Wednesday during my PIX 11 Morning New fashion segment.

Would you wear flowers in your hair? How old is too old for flowers in your hair?

Footwear Friday, ShoeDazzle Supports National Military Family Association: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Snagging stylish shoes while supporting military families, now that sounds like a win-win for this accessory lover! ShoeDazzle, the online fashion brand co-founded by Kim Kardashian which delivers personalized monthly shoe, handbag and jewelry selections to members by its team of celebrity stylists, launched a campaign this week that salutes and supports in style. Now thru June 30th, $5.00 from every purchase of the Adara pump, the Anisa wedge, and the Kimi sandal will be donated to the National Military Family Association, the leading non-profit group dedicated to improving the lives of officers and enlisted families in all seven Uniformed Services. I’ll have to pass on the Adara pump. But, I adore the striped Anisa wedge and see lots of cost-per-wear value on the Kimi flat sandal. At $39.95, maybe I should get both?

Not into the nautical trend, $5.00 from every purchase made July 4th on ShoeDazzle will go to the National Military Family Association.
Pare the shoes with a little white dress, like the Alfani button-down shirtdress I spotlights on PIX 11 Morning News.

Treasure Tuesday, Sasha Rhett Rose Gold Watches: PAMELA PEKERMAN

I'm not much of a watch girl - I prefer to accent my wrists with a bold Ted Rossi cuff or the Lia Sophia Royale Bracelet which looks so lux you might even believe its real gold with diamonds. But, when I find a watch that looks like delicate jewelry, count me in for that purchase. Sasha Rhett's watches have thin leather or exotic skin interchangeable straps, so you can get many style options from just one face. Also, the straps come in single and double wrap. I prefer the double wrap because it completes that watch-as-bracelet look. Additionally, you can choose to layer bracelets on the same arm - something slim, like Bree Inara's Hamsa, Alphabet or String collections, is best.

This season, Sasha Rhett introduces rose gold watches. It's my favorite metal, and an ideal complement to the season's nude trend.

Mystery Monday, TOMS Launches Eyewear and the Gift of Sight: PAMELA PEKERMAN

I’m sure by now we all know TOMS, the revolutionary shoe-meets-philanthropy company that donates a pair of shoes to someone in need, for every TOMS shoe purchase. Well, it seems TOMS founder Blake Mycoski’s entrepreneurial heart has more to give and create. Through his travels, he realized that many basic human needs are not being met around that world, and so he has morphed TOMS into the One for One™ company. The concept is similar to TOMS shoes, buy something and give something, but will expand to other products/services. The first step in the evolution of Mycoski’s company is the addition of TOMS eyewear and the gift of sight.

According to the brand’s website, “blindness and visual impairment is the seventh-largest health disability in the world. But in most cases it can be prevented or treated. In fact, available solutions, including medical treatment, prescription eyeglasses or a 15-minute cataract surgery, could impact 80% of people afflicted with vision impairment and blindness.” To think, that purchasing any one of the stylish women’s sunglasses featured above (there are options for men as well – think Father’s Day!!) can truly transforms the life of someone you probably will never meet, is simply heartwarming. I have my sights set on Classic 201 in Crystal Sea Foam $135.

Slipper Sunday, Face Mug from UnCommonGoods.com: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Louis and Clark. Starsky and Hutch. Peanut butter and jelly. Coral and white. Politicians and cheating. Some things pair so well together, how could you ever separate the two? That's why I'm crazy-e town mad for the Face Mug ($18) exclusively available at UnCommonGoods.com. Did you see me tweet it out last week, during the company press preview? Milk and cookies now happily unite in one clever serving item. In the morning, I enjoy green tea and a granola. At night, it's milk or early gray with a Glow Gluten Free cookies. How will you use your Face Mug?

Footwear Friday, Jean-Michel Cazabet Pam Cutout Wedge: PAMELA PEKERMAN

As I write this post, the barometer is approaching 100degrees in my New York City office! Since so many women work in corporate settings that forbid open-toe shoes, this Footwear Friday find is for you ladies. Strategically placed perforations on a shoe, are the next best thing to wearing sandals or peep-toe pumps. Let in a little air, and hit summer's wedge trend with
Jean-Michel Cazabat Pam Cutout Wedge Heels
($275). Alas, the shoe is not named after me. Although, I fancy we have a lot in common -- pointy toe, we face the world head on; wedge, we stand tall and comfortable; classic color options, we easily mingle with new and old friends/item in your closet.

PS For added sole-ace, place Silver Linings in your pumps. The pads, made from Agion silver technology, absorb moisture and reduce stinky, summer foot odor. Trust me, they work! Just make sure to change the pads ever 4-6 weeks, if you are wearing the shoes on a regular basis.

Slipper Sunday, Jonathan Adler Kissing Giraffes Rug: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Lately, I’ve been contemplating all the wonderful blessings that a child brings into the world. I’ve also begun to realize how much charm, ease and good nature we tend to loose as we develop into “mature adults”. To whit, it’s important to walk through life with a childish sensibility that always makes you want to question everything, and be excited by the smallest of good fortune. And, with that little philosophical nugget, allow me to present the silliest and most happy rug imaginable - Kissing Giraffes by Jonathan Adler $750. Some might think it belongs in a children’s play room, but I’m convinced this colorful wool concoction should accessorize my office. How can you sulk about one phone call or project gone array, when you have kissing giraffes under your feet?

PS Remember to embrace the now, smile for the sake of smiling, and have a happy and healthy weekend!

Footwear Friday, Manolo Blahnik for TOUS: PAMELA PEKERMAN

This isn’t a new piece. It was new over a month or two ago, when an exited pr gal (who’s a good friend of mine) told me she was sending me a charm necklace that was a collaboration between her client TOUS and renowned footwear designer Manolo Blahnik. I had planned to write a Footwear Friday post the moment I received it. However, I stopped myself. Was I in love with this piece simply because it was in the shape of the iconic Manolo Blahnik Mary Jane? Was it really worth $279 for a gold plated item? Gold plated! So, I resolved to wait until I could showcase this piece to my sister Michelle, a shoe fanatic who happens to also own the actual Manolo Blahnik Mary Jane in black patent leather (among many, many others). Last Friday, she was at my office and I presenter her with the item. She squealed. I laughed. She a-shoed me the necklace was certainly worth the price tag, if the wearer was a devoted shoe lover who really appreciated the piece and would wear in on a regular basis, thus making it less expensive based on the CPW (Cost Per Wear). Truth be told, the Manolo Blahnik for TOUS collection is very special, crafted to illustrate every minuet detail of the shoe, and even packaged in the most adorable little shoe box. Is there a footwear lover out there with a birthday coming up? Add this to your wish list.

Travel Thursday, Ghurka Tie Case for Father's Day: PAMELA PEKERMAN

I highlighted this piece last year during a Father’s Day segment on Better TV, but it’s so fabulous (and men are so difficult to shop for) that it’s worth spotlighting again. If you have a suit-and-tie man in your life that travels often, Ghurka’s Tie Case ($298) is certain to be a hit with him. As mentioned on the brand’s website, the case keeps ties in place and holds up to six comfortably – eight really is a stretch. Watch the Better TV segment, so you can see the inside. As with all Ghurka items, the devil is in the details - and it this case, the devil is very good. With their understated luggage and small leather goods pieces, a broody color pallet dominated with chestnut, walnut, black and vintage chestnut, there are many wonderful Father’s Day gift ideas from Ghurka.

PS Since Father’s Day is coming up, and those of you who are still blessed to have that special man in your life, I hope you will honor my father and give a donation to the Ilya Peckerman Fund for Vasculitis Disease. Every dollar counts. And, 100% !!! goes directly to funding critical research that will some day cure the horrible vasculitis diseases, which are very rare and so desperately in need of awareness. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Handbag Humpday, Reed Krakoff Art Boxer Bag: PAMELA PEKERMAN

When Reed Krakoff launched his eponymous line in Spring 2010, I was delighted to soak up his personal aesthetic. Having been a fan of his work at Coach, where Krakoff still serves a Creative Director, it was wonderful to get 100% RK without the burden of an iconic brand between him and his consumer. While, his collection encompasses accessories and ready-to-wear, I’m particularly drawn to his handbags, more specifically the Boxer (even more specific for the current season, the Art Boxer). Crafted in a dizzying combination of materials, the sophisticated satchel is certain to become a staple silhouette for the brand. The juxtaposed of canvas, snake, and matte and shiny leather works and draws you in for another look, like a dazzling kaleidoscope. At $1,390 the price might make you dizzy too, but I strongly feel this is worth the investment. The Art Boxer bag by Reed Krakoff will endure over time. Just make sure to protect the canvas – keep it off the ground with the help of a Clipa, stuff it with a Pursendipity ring when not in use, and place in a dust bag.

If you have some time, take a look at the entire ReedKrakoff.com website. I love all the personal insight into the designer, his inspiration board and the various architects and artists that influence his authentic. Here’s to the next great American luxury designer. (In case you are wondering, it’s 1pm and I’m casually drinking – Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, if you must know!)
