On December 6th, New York’s Meatpacking District was a buzz as its newest retail resident, Trina Turk, opened her doors for the first time. The launch party was a celebration of Trina Turk’s style and her vibrantly-retro store, designed by the world-renowned Jonathan Adler. In the midst of photographers snapping pictures of PYTs and fashion's elite munching on yummy hor`derves, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Trina to find out what her California-based brand has in store for us New Yorkers.

Announcing The Launch of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin: BAGTRENDS BLOG

As New York Fashion Week approaches (one week and counting!!), IMG announces the launch of yet another fashion week. This time expect the runway roller coaster in Germany.

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin will be a fashion platform for international and German designers and will be a regular seasonal event among the growing number of fashion weeks worldwide. The event will premiere July 12 to 15, 2007.

"Berlin, with its unparalleled energy and creativity, will provide a strong foundation for this new fashion initiative, which will appropriately combine international brands that appeal to the city's spirit with local and up and coming designers," said Fern Mallis, Vice President of IMG Fashion in New York. "IMG's worldwide expertise in this field and its roster of international fashion events mean that the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin will be given the best support to achieve worldwide recognition."

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin will take place at a unique location in spectacular historic Berlin right in the center of Europe, with catwalks emanating from the prestigious Brandenburger Gate. Harald Wolf, Senator for Economics, Technology and Women's Issues of Berlin, said: "The foundation of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin is yet another milestone in the development of Berlin as a fashion capital. We believe that Berlin provides an ideal center for Europe's fashion industry. The fusion of international brands with the unique character of the city will create a new force among the existing fashion weeks."

Jimmy Choo and Fendi's Identical Gold Rush: BAGTRENDS BLOG

Dear Bagista,

Is it me or does the Jimmy Choo Troy purse eerily resemble the B. Fendi shoulder bag? The shape, the central flap, the symmetrical side belt-like accents?



Um... now if we play fantasy shopping, which one would you pick? I would love to hear what everyone thinks.

Both are over-the-top gold and opulent beyond belief. Me, I'm going to be clutching the Jimmy Choo. The metallic mesh has a richer, more textured look than the sold-gold (some-what-tacky) looking Fendi bag. I just see more wearability from the Jimmy Choo, especially with the detachable straps.
