Dear Bagistas,

Sass & Bide hit the runways in London for their first international showing in 2002 and they haven’t taken a latte break since. Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton, the delectable duo behind sass & bide, are the fashion geniuses who dream up the frocks adored by the likes of Mischa Barton and Kylie Minogue.

For fall 2007, shimmering black and gold mini dresses complete with pockets and black and white chiffon pleated minis accented by Aztec inspired detailing are sure to land celebs on some of the industry’s best-dressed lists. --> READ ON

NY Fashion Week - Nicole Miller Fall/Winter 2007/2008: BAGTRENDS BLOG

Dear Bagistas,

Nicole Miller ventured south of the border this season, with bold, Peruvian-inspired pieces recalling an exotic South American safari getaway. For fall, Miller reinvented her signature use of prints with earthy, ethnic patterns inspired by Peru. Dresses, coats and ponchos popped off the runway in earthy color combinations of ivory, brown, and Sahara-yellow. --> READ ON

NY Fashion Week - Nanette Lepore Fall/Winter 2007/2008: BAGTRENDS BLOG

Dear Bagistas,

If you find yourself scouring the contemporary floor of Saks for one of Nanette Lepore’s cutesy signature suits this autumn, maybe you’ll be in better luck next season. Fall 2007 is more tomboy than the frilly silhouettes and accents Lepore is know for. You’ll get lost in a world of Irish Knit sweaters, Barbour coats and Hound’s Tooth. --> READ ON

NY Fashion Week - Jason Wu Fall/Winter 2007/2008: BAGTRENDS BLOG

Dear Bagistas,

Despite blistering cold weather, Jason Wu wowed a packed house. He kicked off the show with a black brocade dress, but it was the mix of golden-mustard and butter-yellow hues that really popped out at me. A gold cocktail dress with metallic bodice and button detailing, a satin gold dress with a pleated skirt and a black organza underskirt, a yellow chiffon gown capped with a mink coat --> READ ON

NY Fashion Week - Irina Shabayeva Fall/Winter 2007/2008: BAGTRENDS BLOG

Dear Bagistas,

Fashion Week is like one big party – the clothes, the cocktails, the beautiful people. Amongst the hype, the fashion itself can easily be forgotten; so what’s a designer to do? Well, if you’re Irina Shabayeva, you turn your fashion show into one big party! Shabayeva’s swanky show took place at BED, an ultra-trendy nightclub in the heart of Chelsea. The club floor was turned into a makeshift runway, with models strutting amongst well-heeled, cocktail-sipping attendees.

NY Fashion Week - Diane von Furstenberg Fall/Winter 2007/2008: BAGTRENDS BLOG

Dear Bagistas,

After decades of designing, Diane von Furstenberg knows not too veer too far from her signature style. For Fall 2007, she delivered nothing short of dresses, dresses, dresses. The coveted show opened with a DVF staple: the wrap dress. This time around, it was glamified with pretty black taffeta. Other variations of the wrap appeared in sunny orange with ruffles, flirty raspberry with a big bow, and chic black with rosettes. --> READ ON

NY Fashion Week - Charlotte Ronson Fall/Winter 2007/2008: BAGTRENDS BLOG

Dear Bagistas,

The Charlotte Ronson girl looks like she just rolled out of bed. But in reality, we all know it takes a bevy of backstage blow-drying and blush applying to look so perfectly undone. An array of bed-headed beauties took to the stage at The Box, an East Village locale that’s yet to be publicly open – translation: I’m so cool I have to have my show in a place that hasn’t opened to the laymen yet. --> READ ON

NY Fashion Week - Chaiken Fall/Winter 2007/2008: BAGTRENDS BLOG

Dear Bagistas,

Some collection scream their theme or inspiration, but Chaiken’s semi-Indian influences were subtle and not a dominating mantra for each look - using several beaded belts that had an ethnic flair, draping a silk black sari over a cashmere turtle neck and covering the runway in Indian carpets. --> READ ON

NY Fashion Week - Atil Kutoglu Fall/Winter 2007/2008: BAGTRENDS BLOG

Dear Bagistas,

It’s been a while since the monarchy has had its hand in American fashion, but according to Atil Kutoglu’s fall/winter 2007/2008 collection there is certainly a place for the regal lifestyle of the days of yore. Amidst all the brocades, sky high collars and luxurious velvets that gave the collections its old-world feel, Atil Kutoglu managed to carve out a punk rock niche in the form of distressed leathers, gunmetals and asymmetrical silhouettes. --> READ ON

Dear Bagistas,

Check out my choices and let me know what you think. There's nothing like opening yourself up for public criticism, but I'm hoping you gals will be kind :).

NY Fashion Week - Venexiana Fall/Winter 2007/2008: BAGTRENDS BLOG

Dear Bagistas,

I must admit I’m not too familiar with Venexiana, but I love that designer Kati Stern was inspired to design when she was “restoring her second home in an important Venetian Palazzo … hence Venexiana a NY/Venice-base fashion company.” OK, so you’re thinking another rich gal who wants to design? Great! No, Venexiana really is great. --> READ ON

Raised in Puerto Rico, but a former, longtime resident of New York, Gustavo Arango's runway shows always fuse a vibrant passion of Puerto Rico with the modern edge of NY. For fall/winter 2007/2008 his gowns and cocktail dresses were amazing, soon-to-be Red Carpet winners.
