Sex and The City 2 Fashion Trends & Handbag News: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Dear Bagistas,

The day has finally arrived, the New York City premier of Sex and The City 2. When Sarah Jessica Parker and the gals – Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall, and Kristin Davis – step out onto the pink carpet at Radio City Music Hall, tonight, all eyes will on the fashions and my eyes will be on the bags. Will SJP sport Judith Leiber, Swarovski or maybe the gold Chanel clutch she holds in the promo posters? Will Kim Cattrall opt for something sliveringly, exotic and sexy from Adriana Castro? – which is actually featured four times in the movie!! Will Kristin Davis hold Dior? Maybe Cynthia Nixon will shock us with a tribal print number from LaLucca? It’s anyone’s guess. What I do know is that there are some amazing handbags throughout the Sex and The City 2 movie and lingering trends will be made.

Sex and The City 2 fashion trends
With the Abu Dhabi setting, Moorish prints and dessert colors will be as hot at the Arabian dessert. (LaLucca has one-of-a-kind, artist options under $400)
Scarves worn in the hair, neck and bag will be key (stop by Henri Bendel today or tomorrow to check out the Sabina Les scarf trunk show)
Kaftans are a must in yellows, browns and corals (I got a great Michael by Michael Kors option from Marshalls for $39 vs msrp $110.)
Bold jewelry, already a fashion staple, will continue to rain supreme. (Kenneth Jay Lane and H&M offer solutions at both price points. For maximum fashion and financial do purchase two or three Clipas ($19) and where them as bracelets – then use one on your bag.)

Stay tuned for more fashion trends and handbag happens as I cover the VIP premier tomorrow at the Paris Theater, an event sponsored by my good friends at HP (hi Donya) and Swarovski (hey Melissa). Then I’ll pop into a cab to attend the launch of Patricia Field’s beach collection/ Sex and The City 2 celebration of her work. Finally, a night cap at Bergdorf Goodman for yet another VIP Sex and The City 2 party. I wonder what marvelous handbag I will spot? Perhaps Sarah Jessica Parker will make an appearance.

Have a bag-a-licious day!

Affordable Rocker Fashion from TJMaxx and Marshalls on NBC's San Antonio Living: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Dear Bagistas,

Last month I had the pleasure of visiting the great state of Texas for the first time! My trip was rather short - about 36 hours on the ground in San Antonio. I tried to pack in as much sightseeing (yup got in the Alamo and surrounding area) and relaxing along the riverwalk, (which is a glorious stream that runs thru most of downtown) as I could. The main objective was to share rocker-chic fashion tips, as seen in The Runaways movie on NBC's San Antonio Living. Below is the clip that aired live April 28th. Note to self: sitting sideways doesn't help when you need to talk to the audience :). Ah, we live and learn. But, I do blame that deep, comfy couch. Sitting on stiffer couches for these segments is much better for posture and presentation. Any who, hope you enjoy this piece and don't forget to check out your local TJMaxx and Marshalls for amazing designers finds at up to 60% off. My latest goodies are an Alice+Olivia dress for under $170 and Tahari shoes for $49!

If you are in San Antonio, you must stay on the Riverwalk and request a view overlooking the water. It's so relaxing to have water views. I was very pleased with the Hotel Valencia Riverwalk. The staff was very friendly, the food at their restaurant was TexMex yum and the location was walking distance to the Alamo and The Majestic. They also upgraded me the a huge suite - I just wish the hubby was able to make the trip.

$12,000 Raised at Ilya Peckerman Fund Silent Auction for Vasculitis Foundation: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Dear Bagistas,

Last night, the first annual Ilya Peckerman Fund Silent Auction raised over $12,000, with all proceeds going to research programs benefiting the Vasculitis Foundation and its efforts to find a cure for vasculitis, a group of rare, autoimmune diseases. I’m BEYOND humbled by the generosity of my friends, colleagues and complete strangers, some of whom – thank goodness! – have not been touched by these illnesses in a personal way.

Hosted at one of New York City’s chicest lounges, the Gates located at 290 8th Avenue, the event was held in honor of my late father Ilya Peckerman who passed away form Wegener’s Granulomatosis on December 18, 2009 at age 56.

Guests had the chance to bid on fabulous merchandise and experiences. The hot ticket items were:
1) meet Rebecca Minkoff at her NYC showroom, preview her fall 2010 collection and selection one of her highly, sought-after spring 2010 bags ($950)
2) a 2-nights stay at Miami’s Shore Club in a superior king room ($1700)
3) Stuart Weitzman python bag ($1400)
4) Swarovski Cuff ($900)

A thank you to item donors from: Saks Fifth Avenue, HP, Givenchy Beauty, COACH, Derek “Fabulous” Warburton, Sabina Les, NFL, OmniPeace, YogaSpot NY, Clara Kasavina, Ted Rossi, Freebird, Jane Marvel, Samantha Thavasa, Juliet Supperclub, TheBeautyBean.com, LaLucca, Floral Icon Events, and Maria Bonita Spa & Salon. Also Thank you to Mike from GIVEN Tequila Liquor – this is not your grandpa’s tequila, it’s beyond yummy and you’ll have the chance to sip it when it officially launches this summer. Also thank you to my friend and cupcake diva (or should I say devil, since I can’t help eating so many) Tawny Ong.

The Ilya Peckerman Fund Silent Auction is just the first initiative my family is undertaking to raise money and awareness. There are plans to create a “shop for vasculitis” campaign with designers creating red (the signature color of the Vasculitis Foundation) merchandise and donating a percentage of proceeds to the fund. I hope we can count on all of your support. There will be some amazing merchandise – handbags for sure! – that you can proudly wear and know that money was also going to a good cause.

In the spirit of my dad, please ask yourself today and everyday “How can I Carpe Diem today?” Live, laugh and love to the fullest!!

Have a bag-a-licious day!
