Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios announced today that the twice yearly event in Culver City, CA will be ‘greener’ in October, with a focus on sustainability, eco-friendly fashions and designers.
In addition to working with designers and sponsors on a number of initiatives, the event
will seek to reduce its impact on the environment, including adjustments to the
production of the shows and materials used throughout. Title sponsor Mercedes-Benz
will bolster this message by highlighting its latest clean diesel technology, Bluetec.
Fern Mallis, svp of IMG Fashion said, “we are exploring many different options from
production to the runway. We will encourage the designers who have consistently
shown with us to include some garments that promote sustainability and eco-friendly
fibers, and hope to also bring to Los Angeles designers from around the world who are
committed to this movement.”

Mantra 986, New York’s chicest addition to Sutton Place, was the spot where guests (including Oksana Baul, --who's from my parents home town of Odessa, Ukraine so I was SO faclemt!!) previewed the first in a series of private shopping experiences that will travel to posh venues throughout New York City. From the tips of your nails to your shoulders, The BagTrends Arm Candy Party aims to pamper and please. Come for the shopping and stay for the relaxing hand and shoulder massages. At our launch party we had the fabulous Cygalle Healing Spa pampering guests with hand, neck and back massages and offering their yummy (LOVE the coco mango lotion and romance oil !!) products. This exclusive mobile healing sanctuary is the premier backstage experience during Fashion Week popping up at Zac Posen, Charlotte Ronson, and Temerley. We always try to get the best for our bagistas :)  Balinoff Vodka created yummy drinks for our VIPs including The BagTrends Bolinoff Twist and Balinoff Tote Away. I'll be sharing more on the drinks in an upcoming post.   Oh and the fab shopping... Caravan, the hottest shop-in-a-van :) had all the must-have "in the bag" summer essentials. They'll be traveling around Manhattan this summer with a crayola assortment of Havainas - keep an an out! The designer, Joie, is amazing and her tranquil presentation of gems on a dangling tree was perfection! Dear Bagistas, I'm on the hunt for a fabulous men's briefcase for my boyfriend b-day and came across these two offerings. The first is from Tusk ($475)- great quality brand, streamlined design, a little sporty, but still professional. The second is from Giorgio Fedon 1919 ($690)- very luxurious and euro-chic (which is so perfect for my "I never wear jeans" boyfriend. I'm thinking of getting him the black version in a a textured leather that's also scratch proof.   I'm sure you're all looking for fab Father's Day gifts and both are ideal choices to consider.
