Elliott Lucca Summer 2010, Which Handbag Should I Get: BAGTRENDS

Dear Bagistas,

Last week I previewed Elliott Lucca, The Sak, Sakroots and Freebird summer 2010 collections - all part of The Sak Brand. I love this particular appointment for several reasons: the fabulous Andrea who handles PR, the affordable and stylish bags, the fact that smart questions are asked and notes are taken by the pr rep during the appointment, and getting to choose any handbag I fancy. That means, I get a bag from The Sak Brand about 5 times per year. Sweat perk no?

This time, I'd like your help in selecting the handbag I should get.

I've narrowed it down to a new silhouette from Elliott Lucca (see below). This satchel has signature woven detailing on the front, a generous opening, shoulder strap option, and plenty of pockets. I'm loving the white because I just need a new white bag and I like the tortes shell accent on the turnlock. The metallic navy color is also quite nice. So, which do you prefer for me?

Leave a comment below stating which color you prefer and why ... who knows, maybe you'll win one too - hint, hint!

Elliott Lucca Handbags Great Style at Reasonable Prices: BAGTRENDS

Dear Bagistas,

OK, so define reasonable? To some spending more than $50 for a handbag is unthinkable. To other's the idea of snagging a leather bag under $500 is an amazing deal. Still others - and these gals still exist - can't imagine anything more fabulous than a $7000 Hermes Birkin or a $2000 exotic tote from Nancy Gonzalez. I get all of you ladies and there really is something ideal for everyone's budget if you do your homework. As the title of this post suggests, I use the word "reasonable" with Elliott Lucca because I know how expensive leather is and how much it costs to do weaving well (think Bottega Veneta prices of $1000+) which is a signature of Elliott Lucca. Now, their bags are made in China which is unfortunate when we really need to keep manufacturing jobs in the United States. But, as someone who owns five! of Elliott Lucca handbags I can vouch for the durability of their products and the beauty of the design.
This week, I received a pre-ordered early fall 2009 Elliott Lucca drawstring bucket bag. I've been fixated on this style for about two season's and keep telling everyone (and now you all) that drawstring is going to be the look of fall 2009 and even push into spring 2010. It's the inevitable pull towards a more casual style that we have not seen in a few seasons (but still many of us can do and will do a drawstring on a more sophisticated two-handle shoulder bag). Take a look, for example at this Valencia Draw Tote on the left from the current season - I own this one too. I'd take a picture of my own, but I let Michelle borrow it for a few weeks. It's a great example of drawstring, but on a sharp, more structured body. This bag rocks for work. The honeydew color is truly yummy.

Later on this week, I'll preview the fall/winter 2009 collection of Elliott Lucca on http://www.bagtrends.com/. I'll also do a post here on the 5 bags I loved the most and you can vote on which one I should get from the late fall/early holiday collection. Maybe I can get one for a giveaway. Stay tuned!

The Sak Handbag and Other Goodies GIft Bag, WIN IT: BagTrends

Dear Bagistas,

What an amazing fashion week!! BagTrends was featured at the official IMG The Daily Fashion Week Suite. I'll be posting images, trends and celebrity scoop over the coming days. There will also be bag-a-licious show reviews on BagTrends.com. It's going to take some time to get everything up because most of the week was occupied with the suite and chatting up our upcoming BagTrends GREEN Arm Candy Party to visiting press and celebrities. For now, let me share an exciting giveaway we are doing with Elliott Lucca/The Sak. Two weeks ago, amidst the madness of planning my wedding and looking for a house, I decided it was time to at least attend one evening function. So, I hauled it to the city for The Saks 20th Anniversary Party. My pr gals, Andrea and Jill, did not disappoint. There was a lovely retrospective about the brand's history and the launch of the new sakrooots eco collection. Editors left with a fabulous The Sak Peace canvas tote filled with goodies: Confessions of a Beauty Addict book, Bliss Thermal Shaving Cream, Jet Blue Luggage Tag, Stila Lip Glaze Stick and Pencil Sharpener, 50% off James Corbett Studio, 40% off Wallett Cosmetics, 50% off Tommy Guns Salon, Cutler Daily Shampoo and Alison Raffaele Oil Blotting Tissues. One lucky BagTrends member will also win this bag. We'll choose a member next Friday, so subscribe now if you aren't a member. Good luck!
A full review of the event, the fall 2009 Elliott Lucca and The Sak collections will be posted here soon.

Elliott Lucca's Woven Bags on CSI and In My Closet: BAGTRENDS

Dear Bagistas,

If you happen to be watching CSI Miami recently, you may have noticed a cameo appearance by The Elliott Lucca Signature Woven Drawstring. I have to say that this brands woven collection is really nice and quite affordable. This bag retails for $398, and we're not talking about getting embossed weave. This is the real deal, just like - well, not just like, but pretty similar to - the fabulous Bottega Veneta weave. You have the hand crafted feel and certainly the attention to detail. The hardware is really nice.
I just got one of their woven bags from the spring 2008 collection - another lovely perk courtesy of the job! :) Anywho, it's a great, woven leather white tote with thick strip of muted woven gold (not offensive, gaudy gold) going down the center and smaller silver woven strips on the side of the gold. This gives it a sporty look, but because of the structured shape and the lux effect of the woven leather, the overall vibe you get from this bag is classy summer ease. The best part is that there is an inner slip compartment for my laptop - always a plus. So, between this, the new Rebecca Minkoff Steady ($599) I've pre-ordered (you too can pre-order from SHOPBagTrends.com. For ship dates and colors e-mail customerservice@bagtrends.com or you can call 718.531.6793 M-F 9am-7pm EST), and my red Lulu Guinness tote (I still very much love it though I may temporarily retire it after this summer, just to keep things fresh) I should be all good to go. Wow. That was a vicious run on sentence. Sorry about that :).
