Pamela Pekerman on HSN March 24, 2009 7am with Elite Models Bags: BAGTRENDS

Dear Bagistas,

Walk up tomorrow morning with me! I'm in Florida right now prepping for tomorrow's HSN Today 7am EST show. It's going to be a purse party featuring Elite Models Handbags and me yapping about spring 2009 trends. I hope you'll be able to tune in to the show and support me, and shop of course. There will be about eight bags in the hour, and if I had to pick favorites there are two that you absolutely can not miss. First up is the Elite Crinkled Wristlet for $19.90. I love mini clutches and wristlets as my bag-within-bag. When you have to run out for lunch or just crab a cup of coffee at Starbucks, it's so much easier to grab this wristlet with all your essentials and go. What about using it to easily switch out those essentials from your work bag to your weekend bag? It will fit your blackberry, wallet, lip gross, compact and keys. This $19.90 option is all about versatility ladies. You will love it as much as I do. Yes, I do own it in black! Keep you're eyes glued to the screen as I try to destroy this bag to prove our durable it is.
Now, my number two must-buy, and it will be my bag-a-licious pick from the show tomorrow is the Elite Croco Embossed Tote. HELLO!! it looks amazing. Yes, it's not real leather, but bagistas for $49 it beyond affordable luxury. Plus, the colors. Which one to buy? I'm torn between the yellow (a perfect no sunshine, neutral yellow) and the black. Then again, that orange is also so killer. I don't own this bag yet, but I'm hoping I can buy one tomorrow after I get off air. OK. So, watch because I love when all you bagistas tune in. Thank you so much for reading this blog, for visiting http://www.bagtrends.com/ and making the last 4 years very bag-a-licious for me. 2009 is going to be a big one in many ways and I look forward to sharing every detail, every seem, every bag, every moment with you.

PS Share your thoughts about these bags and others on the show. I'm going to also see if I can'ts score a giveaway of the croco tote!!

Have a bag-a-licious day!

Pamela Pekerman Bag-a-licious Fashion Week Fall 2009, My Own Stash Plus BagBorrowOrSteal: BAGTRENDSl

Dear Bagistas,

No fashion week would be complete without a full disclosure of my handbag selection. Despite being in the AKA Hotel for The Daily Hospitality Suite for nearly three full days, I still managed to have plenty of handbag changes. For long stretches away from the office, I went with Rebecca Minkoff's MAB mini in persimmon - it's a wow color you can't miss. Alternatively, I also used the m. Clifford Designs Terrell Tote in black when my coat had enough going on without the need for a pop of color from my bag. For a fun evening affairs, or when I wanted to get extra attention, it was Bodhi's Safety Pin clutch - everyone always asks about it and I love the retro 50s vibe. For a quick coffee run it was my Vegan Queen wallet/clutch - great for holding lipstick and blackberry. And when all of my bag's weren't enough I turned to BagBorrowOrSteal.
Every fashion week, I borrow a few new bags as a test run. I use this company to see if I bag I'm really lusting after will work in my lifestyle. Can you imagine spending $2000 on a bag and then loathing it? Not in today's economy - not ever. So, this season I borrowed:

Chanel Quilted Flap Bag: love the bag, loved the space and outside pocket for metro card, hated how sensitive the leather was because it's just not practical for my hectic bridge-and-tunnel life
VERDICT: would buy post recession in a different finish
Chanel Classic 2.55 Quilted Camel Bag: perfect bag, lives up to the legacy, ideal depth for everything a modern gal needs, can function as work bag if you don't need folders/books/lots of extras, loved all the pockets, loved the patent finish, loved wearing strap long (key look for spring) and short (always "classic"); a perfect rental gift for a month of elegance at $250
VERDICT: recession, smashesion I want this bag now!
Valentino Petal Rose Dome Handbag: a beauty to look at, made me smile when I wore it, leather a bit too sensitive for me, never used the shoulder strap that ruins this dainty style, great day bag if you know there's a cocktail party at night
VERDICT: aesthetically pleasing, wouldn't mind owning it (hint hint Steve), but can live without it - for now
And for the first time, I borrowed jewelry too.
Miriam Haskell Large Beaded Flower Necklace: wawo-wawa!! talk about an attention grabbing piece, couldn't walk across a room without getting asked "where did you get that?", impeccable craftsmanship both on the front and back of the piece!, statement necklace is a must for spring
VERDICT: would love to buy, but I'm sure I'd get board so renting for a week at $42 is ideal to wear the trend while it's hot
Hello Kitty Pink Ceramic Diamond Watch: only a true hello kitty fan can rock this, I couldn't find the right time - no pun intended - to wear this, will try this weekend before I send everything back
VERDICT: you have to be out of your mind or a hello kitty fanatic to buy this for $3K - and this is coming from a big hello kitty fan, sorry I'm going to pass on this one

Pamela Pekerman's Fall 2008 Handbag Trends For Less on AOL's Stylelist.com: BAGTRENDS

Dear Bagistas,

Three postings in one day - quite a lot for me. Must be the crisp fall air that has given me a BURST of energy (or maybe it's that nice kiss I just got for from my fiance!) In any event, in case you missed it, take a look at my Fall Handbag Trends For Less report for AOL's Stylelist.com. I'm their go-to-gal for all things bags. Right now I'm wrapping up a celeb handbag story focusing on great work/day bags. And, yes, it will be for less. It's all about recession happy prices because even during these hard times we still want to look good and be in vogue.

Pamela Pekerman featured fashion insider during NY Fashion Week, AMEX Skybox: BAGTRENDS

Dear Bagistas,

Fashion Week starts tomorrow – actually today since it’s now 12:30am – and I’m excited about what we’ll see for Spring/Summer 2009. I’m also thrilled that I’ll be a featured “fashion insider” at the AMEX Skybox located inside the Tent and the Promenade, the two larger venues allocated for the best shows during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. So what is this AMEX Skybox? Here’s the official PR shpeal:
American Express Skybox: American Express unveils a newly enhanced Skybox this season that provides premium access for American Express Gold Cardmembers, Platinum(R) Cardmembers and Centurion(R) members to experience the runway shows in a truly unique way. Overlooking both the Tent and Promenade but undetectable from the runway, the Skybox features a VIP lounge-style viewing room where Cardmembers can mix and mingle over great refreshments and premium beverages, and converse with influencers from the world of fashion. This season’s Skybox will be designed by American Express Cardmember Frank Carfaro, acclaimed founder and creative director of contemporary home furnishings company, DESIRON. Guests expected to attend include Phillip Lim, Philip Crangi, Joe Zee, Tory Burch, Linda Fargo, Julie Gilhart, Pamela Pekerman, Diane Von Furstenberg and Richard Chai, making the Skybox an experience not to be missed.
Yup, that’s yours truly right next to DVF. I’m delighted to be chosen along with great designers, trend spotters, and editors. We’ll be on hand to chat-up trends and scoop with Cardmembers as they get the VIP treatments. If you happen to be one of the lucky gals or guys, I look forward to meeting you. For everyone else, I finally found my FLIP Video so I’ll document the whole experience!!

Pamela Pekerman Shares More Fabulous Momements with VH1: BAGTRENDS

Dear Bagistas,

Yesterday, despite the dreary, never-ending rain I had a wonderful day. Aside from waking up to the sound of my adorable niece says "Pamela, it's time to wake up." (I'm babysitting all of this week as my sister is in her last days of pregnancy and needs extra hands) - always a plus - I also went in to do two tapings of VH1's The Fabulous Life Presents. As you may recall I did my first taping at the end of last year (The Fabulous Life Presents Celebrity Super Spenders 2007) and I'm back this year to share more celebrity bag scoop. This time I came in to talk about The Red Carpet and Pop Stars. No idea yet about air dates, but it will be sometime in June or July. I'll keep you posted.

Pamela Pekerman Interviewed on MyItThings: BAGTRENDS

Dear Bagistas,

We're almost done with day two of New York Fashion Week and already BagTrends and I have gotten some nice press. Friday, I was photographed for StyleHive.com (ps this is not the ideal image, as it was taken from below eye levelright after the BCBG MaxAzria show sporting my Bulga Antique Pockets Bag. Not long after that, a fabulous new site - MyItThings.com - interviewed me about handbag trends and fashion week. I'll actually be judging an accessories writing contest for them so channel your inner fashion writer and post a story.

Bag Guru Pamela Pekerman on VH-1: BAGTRENDS

Dear Bagistas,
What a year it has been! Just in time for the New Year and my b-day a wonderful gift arrived - or rather aired. This week, I made my VH-1 debut chatting about celebrity handbag trends during The Fabulous Life Presents Celebrity Superspenders 2007.

I went loaded with scoop on Victoria's $2million+ Hermes collection, JLo's python passion (recent sightings include her Zagliani tote and Gucci Indy shoulder bag), Demi's exclusive YSL Downtown tote, Kimora Lee Simmons' one-of-a-kind, $150K, supersized Birkin and much more. Sadly, the segment was cut and only included me chatting about Beyonc'es LV Tribute bag ... which I refereed to as "a monstrosity" going on to say that "just because you have a lot of money, there is no accounting for taste." Naturally, that was edited out.

In any event, I'll be back in the 2008 season to dish more scoop. As for this show, the next airing of The Fabulous Life Presents Celebrity Superspenders 2007 is Tuesday, December 18th at 3:30PM est. (Please ignore the hair. It was a very muggy NY day when this was taped.)
