Treasure Tuesday, Kelly Wearstler Jewelry: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Ultra-cool, industrial-like jewelry from the ultra-cool gal herself, Kelly Wearstler. Perhaps through osmosis, Kelly's je ne sais quoi aura and chicness will trickle into me through the purchase on one of these pieces. For now, my inner voice is screaming "charge it" "charge it". Of course, my inner voice is also telling me to have a slice of cheesecake -- FYI It's 8am!

Treasure Tuesday, LAGOS Spring 2012 Collection: PAMELA PEKERMAN

I love caviar – what Russian gal doesn’t? Those little fish eggs do wonders in my belly. Place them in a homemade blitz and you have the makings for the best breakfast ever. Turns out, I also like caviar in my jewelry, as well. Below is a sneak peak at LAGOS’ spring 2012 jewelry collection, featuring their signature silver caviar beading and some caviar-like bubbles in natural turquoise, black onyx and white mother of pearl. The later are from the love me, love me not group which embodies the essence of spring – the joy of blossoming flowers, blue skies with cotton candy clouds, and playfulness. Can you tell I’m already over winter? Until spring comes, I’ll just have to enjoy the thought of warmer days to come via these treasures from LAGOS.

Treasure Tuesday, Whiting & Davis Jewelry Collection: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Whiting & Davis is as American as apple pie, and now well into their second century, the 135-year-old brand is going back to its roots and re-launching a jewelry collection. Industrial, sleek and modern, despite having signature styles that predate the computer, gasoline cars and Madonna, the collection will appeal to minimalists and glamour gals alike. Whiting & Davis  mesh tear drop earnings (silver $175, gold $750) picture below at center, for example, can be your go-to all year long, from accenting a little black dress and sky-high pumps, to playing up jeans, a grey turtleneck and willies.

Treasure Tuesday, Fortunoff Fine Jewelry Black Quartz & Diamond Drop Earrings: PAMELA PEKERMAN

When you’re a little girl growing up in Brooklyn and you think of your special day, you dream of the dress (will it be lace or lots of tulle), you ponder about the venue (sleek in the city or major in Jersey) … But, one thing was always certain - you register at Fortunoff! So, you can imagine my dismay when weeks before I needed to register, Fortunoff was no more. Oye, the hutzpah! Well, that iconic brand is back doing what they always did best – fine jewelry. Fortunoff Fine Jewelry is online and will soon have brick and mortar stores. Today, I found these beauties Black Rutilated Quartz and Diamond Drop Earring ($950) set in 14K gold. The organic shape and look is a key trend we’ll be seeing a lot in holiday 2011 and going forward into 2012. Textured stones that look like they just came out of the ground is the next big thing in jewelry. But, of course, the team at Fortunoff knows that. This Brooklyn-born gal is very happy to know a retail legend has been resurrected.

Do you have memories of Fortunoff? Share them below or tweet me @PamelaPekerman.

Treasure Tuesday, Dannijo Lislia Necklace: PAMELA PEKERMAN

I'm joining a tribe. The tribe of DANNIJO, two phenom, femtrepreneurs who also happen to be sisters. Did you hear that Michelle?  DANNIJO's Lislia Necklace is right on trend with fall's Native American vibe, but with an industrial twist. Part of me thinks, I can make that! The other part of me knows that the piece is sculpted to perfection with proper juxtaposition of stones, crystal and metal thanks to Danielle and Jodie Snyder's artistic eyes. All of me is certain I must have it! I can already see this in the fall over my beloved black H&M turtlenecks.

Would you wear this necklace? Are you a fan of DANNIJO? Share your thoughts below.

Treasure Tuesday, Kara Ross Triple Gemstone Sugarloaf Ring in Lapis: PAMELA PEKERMAN

The other week, I had a delicious lunch at Zengo with Kirsten Yadouga, a talented handbag designer who has worked with Juicy Couture and Reed Krakoff, to name a few. (She’s actually launching her own sleek and luxurious collection this year, which I’ll certainly share with all of you bagistas when I get the OK). While catching up over tuna tacos and duck rolls, my eyes were glued to Kristen’s craz-e town, lapis blue YSL ring. As you know, coral is my signature shade, but I couldn’t get that ring our of my mind! Ladies – and gents – I’ve been gone loco for lapis! So, when Kara Ross sent over some jewelry samples for a client I’m styling, and they include the Triple Gemstone Sugarloaf Ring ($265), it was fate. In addition to having the coveted lapis stone, the three-stones across hits on the wide-ring trend.

Are you in love with lapis? Did you know ancient Egyptians wore lapis lazuli jewelry? Hey, if it was good enough for Cleopatra …

Treasure Tuesday, Sasha Rhett Rose Gold Watches: PAMELA PEKERMAN

I'm not much of a watch girl - I prefer to accent my wrists with a bold Ted Rossi cuff or the Lia Sophia Royale Bracelet which looks so lux you might even believe its real gold with diamonds. But, when I find a watch that looks like delicate jewelry, count me in for that purchase. Sasha Rhett's watches have thin leather or exotic skin interchangeable straps, so you can get many style options from just one face. Also, the straps come in single and double wrap. I prefer the double wrap because it completes that watch-as-bracelet look. Additionally, you can choose to layer bracelets on the same arm - something slim, like Bree Inara's Hamsa, Alphabet or String collections, is best.

This season, Sasha Rhett introduces rose gold watches. It's my favorite metal, and an ideal complement to the season's nude trend.

Treasure Tuesday, Jennifer Elizabeth's Life Love Jewels Collection: PAMELA PEKERMAN

One of my favorite pr mavens, Malorie Kaye of Cameo PR, can now add "designer" to her list of titles with the debut of Life. Love. Jewels, a collection for designer Jennifer Elizabeth. I didn't know Malorie was crafting baubles on the side, so it came as a shock when Jennifer Elizabeth's pr firm, Mariposa Communications, informed me that the olive branch ring I was swooning over was named Malorie ($98) after it's designer.  Angelic, yet strong - just like the Malorie I know and love - the leaves spread over three fingers and are accented with black diamond stones. I'm all about the rose gold finish, but the collection is available in oxidized silver and antique gold. Which is your favorite?

Treasure Tuesday, Carolee Bold Cool Stones Torsade Necklace: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Sometimes, all you need to make last year's Little White Dress feel new is a fabulous statement necklace. Channel your inner Greek goddess with this aquatic and golden colored necklace from Carolee. The Bold Cool Stones Torsade Necklace is made from genuine amethyst, rose quartz, glass stone and white freshwater cultured pearl. Pair the dress and neckace with a red clutch and navy espedrills for a unique spin on nautical. Or, finish off the Grecian look with stacked gold bangles and gold gladiator flats. For the later, try the Matt Bernson's Nouer IV Sandal - love his shoes. They are so comfy.

Treasure Tuesday, Alexis Bittar Pave Crystal Ring: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Knock out the fashion competition – literally – during the upcoming summer cocktail party scene, with this show-stopping ring. Alexis Bittar’s Pave Crystal Ring is accented with Pave Swarovski, Czech crystals and studs, in Champaign, pewter and soft silver. The pallet will blend well with any style choice from a yellow Maxi dress to blush shorts and a black tank top, providing you with a rather low CPW (Cost Per Wear) value. In fact, it’s quite possible you’ll wear this ring at least once a week for the entire summer (not counting future wear next year and during the upcoming holiday season!) Counting June through August, that would make the CPW value about $23, practically a steal for such a gem of a ring. Ladies, practice this rational with your husbands. It works on mine!

Ann Taylor Coral Statement Necklace spring 2011: PAMELA PEKERMAN

I need to be honest ladies and gentlemen, I have not purchased costume jewelry in nearly a decade. Everything I own, and it’s a lot, has fancifully appeared in my closet thanks to swag or gifts from friends – wish I could say the same about my diamonds and other fine jewelry. But, that spending pattern changed last Thursday when I found myself drooling over the latest collection of gold, coral and turquoise jewelry at the Ann Taylor store on 52nd and 3rd Avenue. I dubbed it "Lebanon chic" (probably because I’m heading to those parts over the summer) when the collection was presented several months ago. The Coral Statement Necklace ($98) has drama, color and an antique-feel I crave in all my baubles. This piece is so hot, it has sold out online. Call your local store ASAP, if interested. If you strike out, take shopping solace by picking up the equally lovely Coral Casting Ring ($38).

Treasure Tuesday, Jessica Ricci’s Roman Lace Double Cuff Bracelet: PAMELA PEKERMAN

There’s nothing like a great piece of jewelry that also comes with a fascinating story. Jessica Ricci’s creations always come with a treasured tale of inspiration and innovation. This particular cuff was made from a sample of lace the designer found in her favorite outdoor market in Rome – already, visions of my own adventures in the Italian capital flash before my mind. Jessica had passed the linen vendor for years, admiring the femininity of the lace. When she began to make jewelry, she decided to cast the linen in brass and plate it in gold to create a cuff with a delicate and ethereal look. Thus, we have the Roman Lace Double Cuff Bracelet ($220), the newest addition to my ridiculously overindulged cuff collection. Take a look at Jessica’s other collections and sources of inspiration. Spiritus Graffiti, Latin phrases inspired by antique Roman graffiti, makes for a unique statement around your neck and a chance to brush up on classic Latin phrases you probably haven’t uttered since high school.

Treasure Tuesday, Enamel Hamsa Bracelet from Jewelry by Natalie: PAMELA PEKERMAN

I love Miami. I love religious jewelry. I love (ok I’m obsessed with) Café Bustelo. All three collided last week for a perfect trifecta of sunshine, sparkle and coco, when I met the ethereal and lovely Natalie Pomeranc of the newly launched (we’re talking about a week old) Jewelry by Natalie, at Café Bustelo on Collins Avenue in Miami.

Jewelry by Natalie is an uplifting costume jewelry brand with prices that can’t be beat. Everything is under $50 and as delicate and flawless as the adorable designer behind the brand. My eyes locked on an Enamel Hamsa bracelet. Each vibrant color on this piece is carefully painted in, then fired, and the process goes on until every minuscule nook is beaming with vibrancy. All that work and the piece is only $28. Below you’ll also see a Gold Coral Cuff ($48) that channels wonder woman and a Filigree Hamsa Necklace ($36). All prices include continental US shipping.

I know the Hamsa as a Jewish symbol of protection. It has been used to represent the five books of the Torah and the five senses to praise G-d. Hamsa also has Arabic roots where it is called the hand of Fatima, commemorating Fatima Zahra, the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad. Both cultures see it as a symbol to ward off evil. We may as well ward off bad vibes in style. I love to stack two or three on my wrist for extra protection.

Treasure Tuesday, Lia Sophia Industrielle Cone Necklace: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week NYFall2011 goers are getting the Red Carpet treatment this week as Lia Sophia debuts their “Industrielle” Red Carpet Collection to the fashion press. Celebrities like Maria Menounos, Liv Taylor, Kerry Washington and Emma Roberts already previewed the line during the recent Sundance Film Festival – and picked up some of the Art Deco inspired pieces. Lindsay (aka LS of @TeamPamPekerman on twitter) and I had the pleasure of seeing the collection ourselves, last night. What better way to end the work day, before a Valentine’s Day date at the Hayden Planetarium, than to feast one’s eyes on unique and well-priced jewelry? I loved the clean lines and powerful look (without the weight) of the necklaces, bracelets and rings crafted from filigreed metals, marbled resin, smooth enamel, crystals and leather. The latter material was a first for Lia Sophia, a brand with a 35-year history of creating unique jewelry, and empowering women to run their own businesses. After previewing the line, I was asked to pick a piece for myself – not fare to give me choices when there were so many worthy options. But, I finally settled on the Cone Necklace with black diamond crystals and green enamel in matte gold ($300). It was Deco done right with just a hint of 70s to boot, if worn ultra long over a prairie-style dress.

Treasure Tuesday, High-Low w/ $2Million Tiffany Earrings on Natalie Portman & Shoshanna Earrings from QVC: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Sunday evening was crazy town. My stomach is still recuperating from the pleasure of eating my husband's homemade (yes, dough too!) apple pie, and my eyes are equally still filled with delirium from the yellow-diamond earrings that dazzled on Natalie Portman at the SAG Awards. These two million dollar, tear drop earrings are total glam and my only hiccup is that they are borrowed. Gone are the days when gals like Elizabeth Taylor actually owned their diamonds. Ladies of Hollywood, if you make bank, invest in some REAL estate. Natalie, you are an amazing actress - and that's an understatement. You have many more years of great films to go. Get yourself these 27.95 carats of diamond goodness! Sure you might be photographed more than once in the same pair, but when they are these pears (had to go with the pun, sorry) who cares?

Now, as for the rest of us, I thought it best not to ruin these Tiffany beauties by offering a look-for-less, especially since getting a hue that is the perfect vibrant yellow of a yellow diamond is very hard, and anything less than perfection will look cheap. Instead, I found art-deco drop earring from Shoshanna on QVC that we can all enjoy ($27). Would you wear them? Which is your favorite color?

Treasure Tuesday, Folli Follie Soho K Cuff: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Dear Bagistas,

Several weeks ago, I raved about an Echo straw hat that I just had to have for my trip to Los Cabos. Take a look at this picture; is it not utter perfection on my cabeza? Sadly, (visual: me with a frown and puppy dog eyes) my hat did not arrive in time from the showroom, so I’ll have to wait to showcase it on my next sunny adventure. Don’t fret my darling accessory lovers. Perhaps sensing my pain, my pr friends at Tracy Paul & Company (which represent Echo Design) were kind enough to send over the new SOHO K Cuff from Greek-based accessory powerhouse Folli Follie (another one of their clients).

Folli Follie is opening a store in Manhattan’s Soho area this coming February and the SOHO K Collection will be exclusive to the store. If you are interested in this unique piece, available in black and clear for $105 each, contact the Madison Avenue store to get on the waitlist (212) 421-3155. I own both colors, but prefer to wear the black one mid-way between my wrist and elbow Cleopatra style. It looked great paired with a flowy printed DVF dress and suntan. How will you wear yours?

Treasure Tuesday, Disney Couture Enamel Bangle: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Dear Bagistas,
I’ve been preoccupied and neglecting my daily accessory picks! No good. Back today with a playful Treasure Tuesday find from Disney Couture. There is a magic to the mere concept of anything Disney that makes everyone feel like a little bit of Tinkerbelle’s fairy dust has been sprinkled over them – or maybe it’s just me. What can I say; I’m a kid for life. Give me a tiara, cotton candy and a front row seat to the Electric Parade any day. But, back to the baubles. Disney Couture has a wonderful selection of enamel bangles with uplifting quotes such as “Believing is just the beginning” and “Have faith in your dreams”. During these times of gloom and doom, we should all sprinkle a little fairy dust within our hearts and what better way to channel us back to our youth – when we truly believed we were in Mickey’s Club House and Peter Pan could fly – then stacking two or more of these bracelets on our arm? At $48, this makes for a nice holiday gift for any woman on your list.

Treasure Tuesday, Dino Skeleton Cuff by Boy NYC: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Dear Bagistas,

New York’s American Museum of Natural History was my favorite museum as a child. Maybe it was the big, blue whale looming over the Hall of Ocean Life or the Rain Forest setup that smelled and sounded so real, that always kept me coming back. But, as with most children, it was probably the massive (and at least until I was 10, OK 15-years-old) terrifying t-rex that truly intrigued my mind. So, when I saw this Dino Skeleton Cuff by Boy NYC, the little girl (who was actually kind of tomboyish) jumped up for joy. The intricacies of the bones and the skull are amazing and I find myself wanting to fork over $550 for the oxidized silver version.
Boy NYC's Dino Skeleton Cuff

A big “thank you” to my friend Malorie of Cameo PR for introducing me to this brand. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next.

Treasure Tuesday, Ann Taylor Statement Tassel Necklace: PAMELA PEKERMAN

Dear Bagistas,

Several weeks ago, Ann Taylor presented their spring 2011 collection atop the Gramercy Park Hotel. The star-studded affair was attended by Elizabeth Banks, Olivia Palermo, and Fernanda Motta.

Ann Taylor's Statement Tassel Necklace, Spring 2011. Photo: Ann Taylor.
As a first generation American, my mother always taught me the value of having less, but always having the best that you could afford. As such, I remember her purchasing many a career-wear pieces from Ann Taylor, usually at wonderful sale prices. Many of these pieces are still in her arsenal of count-on-me staples.

While Ann Taylor is still a go-to for quality day-to-night attire, I’m particularly impressed with their baubles. The brand’s accessory design team has done a wonderful job of crafting stand-out costume jewelry even I would purchase. (I say that because I have an under $40 costume jewelry rule; I normally can not justify paying hundreds of dollars for jewelry that isn’t made of gold or platinum with precious or semi-precious stones.) However, I’m quite smitten with Ann Taylor’s Statement Tassel Necklace, which hits stores this spring and will retail for $68. The burnished metal finish has an antique finish, and with just a few crystals around the rim of the tassel head, the minimal look blends well with any top or dress. If I didn’t get this in my swag bag at the preview, I’d certainly be anxious to purchase it once it hits stores. Trust me, you will not be sorry with this piece!

If you can’t wait until spring, their a plenty of party perfect gems for holiday dressing on AnnTaylor.com, including the Pearl Cluster Drop Earrings ($38) and the Winter Ball Necklace ($88).

Have a bag-a-licious day!
